About the Item

set of 2 pedestal The natural and black finish of the Shou Sugi Ban enhances the grain of the wood, giving this side table a look that is both rustic and contemporary. The clean lines and balanced proportions add a touch of modernity and harmoniously adapt to various styles of interior decoration. These two solid wood side tables using the Shou Sugi Ban technique are much more than just furniture; they are true works of art that tell the story of nature and human creativity. They will be the centerpieces of your living space, bringing a touch of elegance and authenticity while respecting a peaceful and balanced atmosphere. The blackened and burnt finish of the Shou Sui Ban not only provides increased resistance to the elements, but also provides an artistic and contemporary touch. Each piece of wood is meticulously chosen to showcase the unique characteristics of the material. The geometric silhouette, all in sobriety, fits perfectly into modern or traditional interiors.

Coffee table / double top coffee table, original design, steel structure and enamelled lava top signed Ds. Picard Dominique Monsan Picard, Monsan Picard workshop circa 1960. Some defects in the lava, surely original, no breakage or crack. Very good condition for a magnificent piece. "The name of Picard, linked to the world of ceramics, dates back to the middle of the 19th century. For the part or parts that concern us, it is obvious that it is the 20th century part that interests us. The creations of the 20th century begin with Adrienne Picard, born in 1890 and died in 1963. Settled in 1920 in the studio of Maurice Denis, she produced stained glass cartoons. In 1921, she began training as a ceramist at the Manufacture de Sèvres. In 1922 she returned to Lyon to take over the management of her father Henri Picard's ceramic art workshop, a workshop created in the 19th century. She will keep the management of this factory until 1951. Around this same period 1947/1948, Max and Dominique Picard...

Shou Sugi Ban Burned Black Stumps
By Bertu Furniture
Located in Oak Harbor, OH
Please scroll down to read IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT OUR STUMPS before purchase! Originating in 18th century Japan, shou sugi ban is a particularly striking method of preserving wood by charring it with fire. Traditionally, this practice is used with Japanese cedar in order to weatherproof it. The wood is burned until the surface is charred, and then coated with natural oil. Why buy our stumps? KILN DRIED Our stumps all go through a drying process in our kiln, sometimes for up to a month. We are meticulous with bringing each and every log to a specific moisture level. This process helps with major cracking, long-term moisture issues, and bugs. ECO FRIENDLY In an effort to replenish the trees we use, we plant 50+ trees a year. In addition, we practice salvage logging. Where do we source these? Some of the trees fall naturally. Some have damage from severe wind, lightning, flood, disease, or other natural disturbance so they need to be cut and removed before they fall. Others are fresh cut because people want them off their land. Salvage logging may reduce erosion, reduce intensity of future wildfires, and slow buildup of pest insects. FAMILY OWNED These are made from our family to yours. Quality is of utmost importance, and we hand cut, de-bark, sand, and finish every piece with care. COMMERCIAL GRADE These stumps are meant to be loved and USED. Each is finished with a durable commercial-grade finish. This finish is tough enough for spills, kids, and holds up in hotel and hospitality settings. These Shou Sugi ban burned black stumps...
