1940s French Elm Aviation Work Bench
About the Item
A versatile piece of French furniture, hand-carved in the 1940s in France, this elm wood aviation bench would have been used in an industrial workshop. Three truss legs support the robust 3 ¾” thick top, which is comprised of two long planks held tight by iron bolts. Visible, large washers add to the charm of the bench, which has commensurate nicks, drill holes, and paint residue, indicating the workbench was used functionally. The wood is light brown, making it easy to pair with just about any palette of interior design. Our 90 ¼” long aviation bench would make an intriguing console for a hallway or living room, or as bench seating next to an entryway.
