Created in Provincial France in the early 19th century, this culinary icon exudes history and craftsmanship, hand-crafted of mixed woods including maple and oak, quality solid wood construction with visible pegged mortise and dovetail joinery that adds to the interest, having a shaped backsplash with convenient tool slot for storing utensils, meat cleavers, and knives. Featuring a thick heavy-duty contoured end-grain work surface with attractive worn smooth dark rich distressed patina, authentic wear, knife marks, and uneven organic form acquired from generations of cutting, chopping, carving, typical industrial knife work and butchery.
