About the Item
This rather elephantine Pig Bench has a number of interesting features. The top is a massive slab of oak almost 3” thick, which over the years has developed a hump and a twist. The legs have been trimmed to compensate, so it still stands perfectly steadily despite the slope on the surface. The heavy legs are mortised directly into the underside of the top, placed so that the overhang is uneven. The piece shows the results of decades of light to medium use.
