A Very Fine 19th Century Workbox or Occasional Table
About the Item
A very fine 19th Century fruitwood workbox or occasional table of fabulous quality with rich patination and grain. The well figured line inlaid and crossbanded top of rectangular form with canted corners opens upwards to reveal a beautifully lined red fitted interior above shaped frieze with stunningly carved blind fretwork with scroll and flowerhead motif detail. Supported on an elegant ring turned baluster pod with carved foliate detail finely carved in high relief above on concave quatrefoil base, terminating on scroll foot with brass and ceramic casters.
