French 19th Century Renaissance Style Bronze and Ormolu Vide Poche Tazza/Stand

About the Item

A most impressive French 19th century Renaissance style patinated bronze and ormolu side table or Vide Poche tazza. The tazza is raised by handsome patinated bronze hoof feet with ormolu acanthus leaves centering a beautiful female mask amidst rinceau shaped scrolls and tassels. At each side are decorative ormolu rings and the border displays an elegant foliate ormolu border. At the center is an impressive young man with strapped sandals with ormolu accents, dressed in period attire. He has his arms raised holding an urn, supporting the top. Displayed at the top is a detailed and richly chased circular reserve of a town with figures strolling and others in repose. All below a flying cherub amidst birds.
