About the Item
Artistic object or sidetable in the shape of a Roman or Greek column, made of solid transparant acrylic.
The design displays the exemplary talent of the progressive Italian product design during the seventies and eighties.
Important piece that is clearly a precursor for the later Memphis and postmodern furniture design movement performed by Ettore Sottsass, Philippe Starck and Shiro Kuramata.
The deliberate use of a simplified iconic image - such as an ancient column, made of a cutting edge material, makes it a great pop art object as well. Heavy, 30 kilo.
These heavy columns are in good vintage condition with some scratches on the top and a bit more on the bottom.
