About the Item
Very special pedestal, made in the era of Art Deco, around 1920 in France.
This column has a particularly beautiful structure, a stepped round base that merges into a fluted column, dreamily designed with a moving veneer - in jagged décor. This then culminates in the upper platform, which shows a masterful star décor. The surface is hand-shellac polished, which shows the stunning veneer work even better.
The column is made from maple wood at the base - probably also so sprout, that has been veneered with nutwood, which has then been hand polished with shellac.
Measurements approx.: height in - 100 cm, diameter 17,72 in - 45 cm
upper diameter: 10,63 in - 27 cm
With this pillar, not only the object presented on it - such as a bust, a planter or a clock - is an eye-catcher but also the pedestal itself. A special French piece in ready to use condition. Slight cracking at the joints, which does not affect the good condition of the column.
