Vintage French Turned Column Screw Plinth, Reminiscent of Charles Dudouyt
About the Item
A French plinth with a turned column stem, reminiscent of Charles Dudouyt designs.
The plinth form most probably dates from the early 20th Century with the turned screw column from an earlier date and most probably used as part of a wine press.
Befitting of interiors that blend pieces of different styles and ages and also those that harness the stripped-back, primitive, rustic, wabi-sabi aesthetic that is so on trend currently and embraces and helps us see natural beauty in imperfection. The piece has amazing patina that only time can create.
Condition: The item naturally shows some degree of wear commensurate with age and the practical use it would have once served. Please expect the endearing quirks of a piece this age and type, however, the piece has been sympathetically & professionally restored so is in very good order. Some warping to the plinth top.
