Severin Hansen fully restored rosewood side table with shelf by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri Denmark.
These Severin Hansen tables are not often seen with a shelf like this table. The table has a very clean, modest and simple yet elegant design and features a rectangular top with tapering legs. The table has been fully restored by our cabinetmakers and is in excellent condition with only few and minor signs of age and use.
Danish furniture designer Severin Hansen Jr. is best remembered for his table and desk designs in the Classic, Danish Mid-Century Modern style. In the 1950s and early 1960s, his work was manufactored by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri a furniture manufacturer located in the small town of Haslev, close to Copenhagen as well as by Dutch manufacturer Bovenkamp. Hansen's also known for his collaboration with venerable Danish porcelain company Royal Copenhagen, that enabled a series of rosewood and mahogany tables surfaced with ceramic tiles hand painted and glazed by artists like Grethe Helland-Hansen and Nils Thorssen.
Though little is known about Hansen’s life, his designs are increasingly popular among vintage lovers, who hold him in high esteem for his high quality joinery and materials. Hansen’s dining tables, nesting tables, coffee tables, and sewing tables were manufactored almost exclusively in rosewood and mahogany, with only a small number made in teak. Minimalist in detail, they are characterized by angular silhouettes and tapered legs the tables are good exampels of 1960s Scandinavian idiom.
