About the Item
Plywood and solid mahogany studio craft made three tier side circa late 1960s to early 1970s. The aesthetic is of the Art Nouveau and Antoni Gaudi school which had a resurgence during this timeframe. The sides are constructed of a thin hand formed plywood cut into curvy organic forms, the top is of solid Philippine mahogany with scalloped edges, stained to a rich dark mahogany. The plywood has extensive graining which enhances the overall appearance of the table to its connection to nature. The joinery for the shelves is of hand carved solid mahogany with a rather complex construction. A very unique piece by an unknown creator to us, sourced locally so most likely a Bay Area artist during this time. All originally condition with minor wear from over the years.
