About the Item

A beautiful and rare example of a open top table by the legendary cabinet maker E. Kahn & Cie. A company that produced and sold the most celebrated French eighteenth-century models after models by Weisweiler, Stockel, Benneman, Cressent, Gaudreaux and Riesener. In Paris, he was located at 84, avenue Ledru-Rollin in the 12th arrondissement. The marquetry has two faux drawers and a third that opens by key. The top of this table opens vertically to expose two storage compartments. The original purpose of this side table is unknown, but what is known is the delicate, intricate marquetry in the flame mahogany veneer that showcases the best work of Envoi Kahn & Cie. This piece is in Distressed condition, with major veneer loss and general wear and tear consistent with age. You will want to pursue the appropriate treatment in restoration to revitalize this piece for years to come. Sold as-is.
