19th Century French Walnut Side Table

About the Item

Side table hand-made in France in the mid 1800s using walnut and pegged construction. The table features a single, inset drawer on the front of the apron and scalloped edges on all sides. The top is made of three boards with ogee edges and rounded corners. The four legs are hand-carved and tapered, and connected with a hand-turned I-stretcher. The tapered part of the legs is hexagonal. Overall this is a beautiful side table that is large enough to stand on its own, but small enough to be used as an end table or side table. The color is deep and warm, and the little discolorations present on the top are light and add beautiful depth and character to the piece.
