About the Item

André Groult (1884-1966) was a prominent French decorator and furniture designer known for infusing his creations with sensuality and whimsy. Coming from a conventional bourgeois family, he became a key figure in 20th-century decorative art. Groult married fashion designer Nicole Poiret and collaborated with notable artists like Louis Süe and Marie Laurencin. He showcased his work at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, where he designed a women’s bedroom in harmonious pink and gray tones, utilizing precious materials like Macassar ebony and ivory.
