Antique village chair that can also be used as a side table. We have a small collection. Lovely patina and character on this beautiful teak piece. Circa 1950. The images and price reflect one. Full dimensions; 15.5″ diameter x 12.5″ seat high x 14” high back rest x 17.5″ wide b/rest.
This antique chair or side table was hand made in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility. This kind of luxury is for a select few: The Emperor of Japan had a Wabi garden. Wabi is for people who already have a lot.
