About the Item

A very rare natural finished Art Nouveau wicker step table with three shelves, American, C. 1900, with beautifully woven table surfaces on each shelf. . This is a one of a kind piece and the only one I have ever had in all the years dealing in Antique American Wicker! It is truly a magnificent! This table is done in Art Nouveau styling of the period in a natural finish.The design consists of a small woven top shelf attached beneath by a gallery of vertical reed supports which join on both table sides to sweeping cane wrapped and curly cue decorated bentwood supports. These beautiful decorations then run from the back which is partially enclosed with a handsome woven gallery and then the wrapped bentwood supports sweep downward from the back legs to the front legs to the woven bottom shelf. This then becomes a part of a beautiful open beed work decorated gallery which encloses the whole perimeter of the bottom shelf. An absolutely beautiful over the top table design with so many details to admire.

An Arts and Crafts period wicker library / Lamp table C. 1910 from a Rhode Island estate, These tables are a close woven reed done in a turquoise finish with black, yellow and reddish trim colors with the table top done in a very handsome quarter sawn oak surface. The table is beautifully designed with a quarter sawn oak table top surrounded by black braiding above a turquoise finished table skirt with a reddish bottom border trim. This table top sits upon beautifully skirted double legs on each corner which are joined together by a major decorative x criss crossed shaped woven and paint decorated support system which includes an additional pair of mid table top supports. This table is not only absolutely beautiful in its styling but also in its engineering.
