About the Item
A stunning addition to any parlor or study. This handsome chainlink standing catchall, designed in the 1970s by artist Franz West, combines industrial materials with sculptural form. The piece features a horseshoe-shaped base, supporting a body made of welded iron chainlink. The textures and material speaks to the raw, unrefined aesthetic of Brutalist design. The open, interwoven links emphasize strength and simplicity, while the crystal tray atop provides a delicate contrast, balancing the ruggedness of the iron. A prong extends opposite of the tray, with a flat surface for burning candles. Rare piece, incredibly substantial.
