About the Item

Chippendale Style Carved Walnut with Leather Top Table A fine late 19th-century walnut wine or occasional table in the Chippendale manner. The circular top features a beautifully carved pierced gallery with foliate and scroll motifs, surrounding an inset green leather surface with tooled decoration. The turned and fluted baluster stem rises from a finely carved quatreform base in the manner of a tripod table, with four outward-swept cabriole legs richly carved with acanthus detail and terminating in carved pad feet. The table displays excellent craftsmanship and balanced proportions, with richly patinated walnut and a decorative yet refined presence. Ideal as an occasional, lamp, or wine table, it brings both elegance and utility to a sitting room or study. Dimensions (approximate): Height: 71.25 cm (28 in) Diameter: 72.25 cm (28 ½ in) Condition: Presented in very good condition, structurally sound and sturdy. The walnut shows a pleasing, even patina with minor marks and surface wear commensurate with age. The leather top retains its colour and tooling with gentle signs of use. No Loose joints. No signs of damage or repair. The table has been lightly cleaned and waxed, ready for immediate use. As with all antique furniture, subtle evidence of age and use contributes to its charm and authenticity.
