Four Legs and Two Trays Oak Side Table, Stamped

About the Item

Magnificent oak side table, fully restored, four legs and two trays, it has the signature of the firm as well as its exact date of manufacture. Period: Vintage Circa: 01/14/1961 Measures: H: 51 x W: 74 x W: 59cm Stamp: under the table In March 1912, a man named John Lane bought a box factory in Altavista, Virginia. His son, Ed Lane, was 21 at the time with little manufacturing experience. Ed was encouraged by his father to attempt to start a chest factory in the newly acquired factory. The Lane family did not know the success of their new business, which is why they did not put their name on it first. Instead, they incorporated the small business as the Standard Red Cedar Chest Company, with John Lane as chairman and Ed Lane as vice chairman and general manager. From cedar chests, Lane expanded to side tables in 1951, furniture in 1956, and side furniture in 1965. In 1972, Lane bought a small recliner business in Tupelo, Mississippi, named Action Industries. Action experienced tremendous growth through market share gains and product diversification over the next 20 years, becoming a major force in the upholstered furniture industry. Eventually, Action changed its name to Lane Furniture. Today, Lane is owned by United Furniture Industries, one of the largest and fastest growing manufacturers of upholstery and storage furniture in the United States. Characterized by its clean style and quality construction, Lane Furniture has been an iconic American brand since 1912. Beloved by many middle-class families who adorned their homes in the hustle and bustle of the post-war era, fans of today 'hui see this furniture on the sets of series as "Mad Men". Beautifully crafted with sturdy materials, a Lane piece can be the icing on the cake of any collection.

  • Boulle Work Table - Stamped: L.gradé & Pelcot - Period: XIXth
    Located in CRÉTEIL, FR
In the 19th century, under the reign of Napoleon III (1852/1870) in particular, marquetry was rediscovered. We copy the styles of previous centuries; so we make a lot of Boulle style furniture. The richness and the quality of the materials are the same but the execution benefits from technical progress: the quality of the furniture of the end of the XIX is superior to that of their ancestors. Here is a rare work table in gilded brass marquetry on a blackened and lacquered pear tree background. Its lively scalloped top, surrounded by an ingot mold, is adorned with a cartouche opening onto a rosewood interior with a vanity mirror and a belt drawer. In the lower part, a hopper drawer remains invisible below. Its feet are curved with ornamentation in chiseled and gilded bronze. Period: Second half of the 19th century. Dimensions: H: 72 x W: 63 x D: 43cm. Stamped: L.Gradé & Pelcot, A work table, also called a worker, it is a small light table whose top is surrounded by a high border to prevent falling objects. The work table or worker is a small table that can be recognized by its removable flat or rounded top containing storage. This table with or without crotch shelf sometimes has a sliding book box under the belt. Louis Gradé...
