About the Item
An elegant and most decorative French 19th century Belle Époque period Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Ormolu, and Brèche D'Alep marble side table, attributed to Francois Linke. This impressive circular freestanding side table is raised on four rounded, tapered, and fluted Mahogany legs and supported by berried foliate wrap around Ormolu sabots with ball feet. The top capital of each leg contains a reeded and fluted Ormolu cap with foliate designed egg and dart upper bands. Above each leg is a wonderful Ormolu floral bouquet tied off with a flowing bowed ribbon which flanks each straight apron. While each side panel leaves the Mahogany finish uninterrupted and edged with Ormolu Coeur-de-Rai bands, the central panel contains a single drawer and a pierced Ormolu central reserve of crossing berried laurel vines on either side of an acanthus leaf accented scroll. The circular Brèche D'Alep marble top is fitted by a lovely partially pierced Ormolu gallery with mottled edges and an opening above the front drawer.
