French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Mahogany, Ormolu, and Marble Side Table
About the Item
A stunning and extremely high-quality French 19th century Louis XVI St. mahogany, ormolu, and Brocatelle d’Espagne marble side table signed Durand. The circular table is raised by the most elegant square tapered legs with exquisite fitted foliate sabots and unique finely detailed spiraled chutes which lead upwards. Each leg is connected by a beautiful bottom tier with concave sides and a stunning pierced diamond-shaped ormolu gallery. The apron displays one drawer and three faux drawers each decorated with lovely tied berried laurel pulls and framed within remarkable and most decorative Coeur de Rai ormolu bands and flanked by stunning richly chased ormolu mounts of leaves, a quiver, and the eternal flame above each leg. Above is the original fitted Brocatelle d’Espagne marble top framed by a superb wrap-around gallery with a fine pierced oval design.
