French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Tulipwood Side Table/Cabinet

About the Item

A striking and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. tulipwood side table / cabinet attributed to Linke. The elegant oval table is raised by fine square tapered and lightly curved feet with square ormolu sabots and decorative inlaid fillets. Above an ormolu band is the central drawer displaying richly chased and exquisitely detailed canopy amidst beautiful swaging floral garlands held by two charming flying birds. The door opens to reveal one shelf and is flanked by columns with rich foliate ormolu mounts. Each rounded side is magnificently decorated with a central ormolu urn and flowers set on a quarter veneered background and framed within a Coeur De Rai designed ormolu band. At the apron are detailed ormolu swaging floral garlands and tied ribbons set on an intricate floral marquetry background which continues around the piece. At the front is one drawer which displays a circular ormolu pull. Above is the oval quarter veneered top showcasing the striking grain all framed within the fine 3/4 pierced ormolu gallery. All original gilt.
