About the Item

A stunning and very high-quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. tulipwood, kingwood, ormolu, and specimen marble side table. The table is raised by the most elegant circular tapered fluted legs with fine ormolu sabots, richly chased fitted foliate chandelles, and mottled top caps. Above each leg are handsome block reserves flanking the straight apron which is decorated with a lovely mottled beaded wrap-around ormolu band with beautiful quarter veneered tulipwood and kingwood designs and displays one concealed drawer at the front. The top displays a spectacular array of inlaid specimen marbles with a central diamond and star reserve with unique triangular and circular designs and a striking array of marbles such as Vert de Patricia, Brocatelle d’Espagne, Brèche d'Alep, Portoro, Gris St. Anne to name but a few framed within an elegant wood border with a fine mottled beaded wrap around ormolu gallery. All original gilt throughout.
