French 20th Century Flip-top Mahogany Gueridon

About the Item

A radiant gueridon table from early 20th century France, in the Directoire taste, it features an impressive inlay of oak parquetry that wraps the top and sides with alternating square tiles placed on the diagonal to emphasize the golden color, framed and contrasted by mahogany around the edges. What appears to be a locking drawer in the case is actually the latch to release the lifting top, pivoting by a hinge on the opposite side to reveal the compartment. Four square legs carved from mahogany taper to the floor ending with brass sabot feet. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this unique side table is ready for your interior.
