Glory holes side table by Richard Yasmine Materials: Statuario marble, polished brass and powder coated metal Dimensions: Diameter 70 x 45 height cm. For him and her talking about “revenge”, sometimes it can be sweet so “sweet” ….therefore my concept was to create a sensational product more like a jewellery piece …I worked on the softness side of the revenge to prove it more sensual then aggressive combining reality and fantasy in a provocative yet glamorous way while preserving the eternal aspect of the design. Made of statuario marble top, solid brass handmade turned and polished, and a metal sheet in gun metal finishing. The brass with its golden color is the material that reflects the oriental feel through an extravagant aspect specially in a polished finishing, the marriage between “statuario” marble and brass emphasizes the required image which here is a “desirable jewel”. Adding that a white and black background accentuate the contrast for these shiny brass elements to show their splendor. “Glory holes” is more than just an ordinary table, well for the first impression “glory holes” is a glamorous object conceived as a piece of jewelry projecting a new dimension in the world of home accessory, it’s a multifunctional object the main function of it is a “soliflore groupage” or a group of small vases from which came the word “glory”, when gathered on the perforated marble top the whole piece form a low table, a side table as well as a sculptural decorative central piece or when turned upside down it creates a base for a bigger table top…but certainly it’s more like a interactive installation, not to mention those who have a playful kinky mind, well a “sex toy” is a part of the concept noting that the multi size phallic rods are easily removable mainly to facilitate the assemblage of the whole piece. Integrating the Middle Eastern specifically the Lebanese knowhow and spirit within the recipe of each of his products; collaborating with craftsmen, consequently to reveal the oriental feel through an extravagant aspect, searching to spread the marriage between tradition and new technologies, by keeping his signature identity of commotion mixing craziness to sobriety with a touch of fantasy. He showcased his work at la biennale de St Etienne, Paris design week 2015, Milan design week 2016/2017/2018, Beirut art fair 2015/2016, Beirut design week 2015/2016, Dubai design week 2016 and in design junction during the London design festival 2017, Some of his designs has been featured consecutively in Interni, Domus, wallpaper, living-corrieredellaserra, ad, Icon, ideat, elle decoration, monogram, dezeen, design Boom, design milk, highsnobiety, the national, Madame, 7daysuae, interiors, Arch newspaper, interior design NEW York, l’orient le jour and many other local and international blogs and magazines … he has been selected by Esquire MIDDLE EAST between the 6 designers to know about in the middle east for 2017 and his work has been featured between the best of Dubai design week 2016 on Yatzer and best of Milan design week 2017 again on Yatzer. He has been interviewed by Elle décor Italia as the Lebanese designer talking about his city Beirut in the “secret Beirut” article as one of numerous other city guides. As for his latest news he showcased in 3 different spaces lately during Milan Design week 2018 and for the first time collaborating with the eclectic Italian brand JCP universe, his latest HAWA Beirut collection and WAKE UP CALL has been selected between the best of MDW18 on Yatzer, yellow trace, Domus, dezeen, design Boom and many other press all around the globe, he has been nominated for the emerging designer of the year by Dezeen, lately he revealed his latest work Ô-CULT the water sanctuary, commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy curated by la Triennale di Milano design museum, new pieces to be showcased April 2019 during Milan Design Week. .
