Japanese Antique Side Table or Bench 1860s-1920s / Display Stand Wabisabi

About the Item

This is an old Japanese side table or bench. It was made in the Meiji and Taisho periods (1860s-1920s), and is made of cedar wood with a beautiful rustic texture. The straight, streamlined design is impressive, and the spirit of “wabi-sabi” is quietly conveyed through the decorative restraints. The changes and repairs that have occurred over the years remain as evidence of its long and careful use, giving it an added depth of flavor. The structure is solid and strong enough for a person to sit on. It is a highly versatile piece that can be used not only as a side table or a seat, but also as a display stand or a flower stand. It is a presence that fits naturally into both Japanese and modern spaces and tightens the atmosphere. Top surface size: 1090 mm x 220 mm Weight: 11 kg _________________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
