About the Item
This is an old Japanese display stand, crafted in the mid-Shōwa period (1940s–1960s). It is a rare, handcrafted piece that beautifully reflects the sensitivity and skill of Japanese artisans of that era. The top board is made of sturdy and weighty chestnut wood, while the legs are formed from warm, rounded cedar logs. The contrast between these two different woods creates a striking harmony of textures and tones.
The cedar legs retain much of their original natural shape, barely carved, allowing the organic vitality of the wood to remain alive in its form. The simple yet deliberate way the legs are joined reveals the artisan’s deep understanding of balance, proportion, and beauty.
The chestnut top bears the marks of long years of use—its rich grain and subtle chips blend together gracefully. This quiet aging embodies the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi: finding beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and the natural passage of time.
Whether used to display a sculpture, a flower vase, or left completely unadorned, this stand has a quiet power that elevates the space around it. Minimal in design yet deeply poetic, it captures the essence of Japanese aesthetics.
Top surface: 320 mm × 305 mm

Our Philosophy
Objects always tell the truth.
All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give
them deep affection as much as I can.
There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty.
But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it
will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing
today and to question us about an essence of beauty again.
I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have,
feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
