Late 18th Century Louis XVI Side Table or 'Table Chiffonière'

Late 18th century Louis XVI side table or ' Table Chiffoniere' in the manner of Nicolas Petit (1732-1791), with a rectangular inset dark red marble top above three drawers, decorated with fillet marquetry, the sides and square tapering legs inlaid to simulate fluting, on square tapering legs. An elegant side table - or better a small chest of drawer veneered in tulipwood ('bois de rose'), a rare and exotic wood imported from Brazil since the 16th century.
