Martin Prekop Side Table
About the Item
USA, ca. 1990s. A unique side or accent table made by the artist Martin Prekop (b. 1940). Features round plywood construction with flared cruciform pedestal. Hand-decorated in black and white paint, which cleverly follows the wood’s grain pattern. Sturdy, graphically appealing, and in overall excellent vintage condition.
Former Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University and School of Art Institute of Chicago, Prekop is a photographer, painter, and sculptor. His work has been shown nationally and internationally, and is held in many important institutional and private collections.
A quirky contemporary piece directly from artist’s estate that would make a fun drinks table, plant stand, etc.
