The Mers coffee table is fabricated from solid aluminum, and patinated with our in-house salt pack technique. It is suitable for use indoors and out. Finish and form are both inspired by the unpretentious utilitarianism of West Coast aluminum fishing boats.

New Format Studio
View ProfileNew Format is a manufacturing and design firm based in Vancouver, Canada, founded in 2013 by principal Henry Norris. We use our background in architectural design and fabrication as the basis for explorations in furniture. Our motivation and interest is to take new ideas and apply them to the built environment around us.
As part of our commitment to creating pieces of the highest quality, we produce and finish the majority of our work in house, at our 4000 square foot studio in Vancouver. By keeping our work close at hand, we are able to constantly experiment with the materials and refine our processes. We are inspired by problem solving and the ethos of hand craftsmanship.
