Mid-Century German Neoclassical Hollywood Regency Style Side Tables, 1960s

About the Item

Two mid-century side tables in a neoclassical style. Probably from the renowned manufacturer United Werkstätten, Munich (unfortunately not currently documented). The tables consist of a brass frame with a table surface made of smoked glass. The frame forms a rectangular frame that surrounds the table top. The glass plate is inserted from below and screwed with brackets. The design of the frame, which is well known for Vereinigte Werkstätten, is striking. This is polished and has a matt brushed finish in the middle. A subtle ornamentation with the character of an intarsia. The legs of the table are anything but subtly ornamented. They show rich decorations in the neoclassical style. The legs are crossed just above the ground for better stability. The tables are in very good condition with signs of wear and patina.
