Mid Century Italian Parchment Three Piece Storage Suite

About the Item

This Circa 1940 Italian Parchment furniture set may be a sideboard with side tables for a dining area or a chest of drawers with nightstands for a modern bedroom. One of the small cabinets has a one-door compartment with a shelf. The other small cabinet has three parchment-veneered drawers. The large piece combines the one-door compartment with two shelves and a four-drawer design. Hence, this unique mixture of beech and parchment results in an exceptional Mid-century design. Parchment is thin animal skin used to veneer furniture. The skin for parchment typically comes from sheep, calf, goat, or boar. However, it can be from other animals. Used since antiquity, it made a resurgence during the Art Deco period, as many furniture designers looked to the exotic for inspiration. Sideboard/Chest of Drawers: H= 35 in., W= 48 in., D= 20 in. Side Tables/Nightstands H= 25 in. W= 21.5 in. D= 13 in.

Condition:

Wear consistent with age and use. The top drawer has inconspicuous blemishes on the parchment. Has nicks, scratches, and tiny stains (see all images). The cabinet with drawers has a glitch with the bottom drawer sticking a little when pulling out the drawer but it goes back in place.
