As part of their debut collection they designed a light yellow side table with three pyramid vol-umes on top, enabling the user to explore the fine line where the most concrete and the most ab-stract come together. Any Thing Table is hand crafted in wood with a satin finish and was shown at Dutch Design Week 2019 in collaboration with Studio Pim Top. Supertoys Supertoys debuts with a design collection for an animist world “What if a table wants to be a flower?”. Asking a question like this enables design duo Merle Flügge and Job Mouwen to break our current state of “being human through things” through rather “being human among things”. In their debut collection design duo Merle Flügge and Job Mouwen of Supertoys Supertoys blur the border between object as tool and object as artefact. It is in this blurred and eroded state where the most concrete and the most abstract come together, where there is no distinction between content and expression. The designers consider themselves modern animists and see all things, objects, animals, people, planets as connected to one large network, where there is nothing that is necessarily more im-portant or less important than anything else, where objects have a spirit of their own. The collection was on display at VEEM at Dutch Design Week in collaboration with Studio Pim Top, and at Fluid Forces by Elle Decoration at Dutch Design Week curated by interior designer and styl-ist Monique van der Reijden (Trend Compass) in collaboration with Evelien Reich, editor-in-chief.
