About the Item
A three-tier side table in stained oak, produced in the 1920s by the pioneering Dutch furniture maker L.O.V. Oosterbeek. The table’s clean, rectilinear form is accented with subtle Hague School details, including understated blackened elements at the base. Its balanced proportions — a perfect 50 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm cube — give it a harmonious presence from every angle. The table wears the metal plate L.O.V. Oosterbeek (underneath the base).
This piece reflects the spirit of the Hague School, a movement often described as the more sober and elegant counterpart to the imaginative Amsterdam School, and more luxurious and decorative than the austere minimalism of De Stijl. Also known as Dutch Art Deco, this style is celebrated for its refined geometry, craftsmanship, and enduring modern appeal.
With its versatile scale, this table functions beautifully as an end table, side table, or even a bedside table. Its timeless design allows it to integrate effortlessly into both classic and contemporary interiors.
Excellent vintage condition, light wear consistent with age. All photos taken in natural light to show true color and finish.
A rare and collectible example of Dutch Art Deco furniture, perfect for collectors, enthusiasts of original modernist design, and interior designers seeking a statement piece with both history and versatility.
L.O.V., short for Labor Omnia Vincit (“Work Conquers All”), was founded in 1910 in Oosterbeek and remained active until 1935. The factory became a hub for Dutch modernist design, producing furniture that combined durability with a progressive aesthetic. Several important Dutch designers — including F. Spanjaard, H.F. Mertens, J. Crouwel, and J.A. Muntendam — contributed to its innovative output.
