About the Item

Sculptural Fibrobla table by Ia Kutateladze Dimensions: W 35 x H 44 cm Materials: Raw Black Clay, Glass “Playground For Salvation” was created entirely during quarantine, in my Berlin studio. The stillness of the lockdown enabled me to experiment and challenge myself to create bigger, more intricate functional objects, lighting and furniture pieces from ceramics. The collection is inspired by the microscopic images of molecules and cells. Realizing, that every living organism in the nature, even if it is a harmful one, could be beautiful. It is an exploration of a very intimate, personal battle of an artist and a human being in a surreal moment. An act of creation as a salvation and a victory. Completely hand-built from black clay, with elements of paint. IAAI / Ia Kutateladze is a Georgian multidisciplinary designer based in Berlin. The production is done by her in the studio, where different mediums of design and craft are merged together with experimentation, playfulness and fascination for diverse materials. “To me, design is a palette of boundless imagination, intuitive approach, aesthetic sense and adventurousness expressed through forms. Design excellently transforms everyday life into joyful process of invention. My designs are playful objects of affection, which are results of slight and uncomplicated impressions, observations or interpretations.Sheer simplicity and attention to details, integrated with profound understanding of the surroundings, the past and the future, are at the core of my designs.I would like my designs to be more than functional objects, to have the power to magically interact with people.”

Sculptural Side Table by Kasanai Dimensions: D 45 x H 54 cm. Materials: Oak, cement, recycled paper, glue, paint. 6 kg. The visual inspiration for the side table is a combination of natural wood and concrete. These two opposite materials combined, create a unique character of the product that has the coldness of concrete and the coziness of wood. The main goal of the project was to create not only a piece of furniture, but also a sculptural and elegant detail of the interior. The tabletop is made of natural oak, and the base of the table, resembling concrete in appearance, is made by pouring solid mass. The set task was technologically challenging - it was necessary to fuse wet mass and moisture-sensitive wood. The entire structure of the table is manufactured at the same time, so that the two materials join together smoothly and precisely to avoid any gaps. After the product dries, it is scrubbed, and the tabletop is oiled. The black concrete-like material is the result of various experiments. It is a mixture of several components: an eco-friendly of cement, recycled paper, glue, and paint. Dried it becomes as strong as wood, it resembles concrete but is slightly elastic, so it does not split or crumble. The result is a natural texture and strength that ensures durability, setting it apart as a unique and sustainable piece Donatas Žukauskas...
