A small Painted and Gilded Wood Chinoiserie Lacquered Table

The Piedmontese aristocrats of the 18th century were enamored of chinoiserie and very close to France in their taste and habits. French was spoken at their court, as it was in most royal courts in Europe in the 18th century. The capital of Piedmont was at Chambery, now well into present-day France. This small painted and gilded wood chinoiserie lacquered writing table decorated with boats and birds is while typical, has become extremely rare as so few have survived.
