About the Item

Jean Lapie Dit le jeune (Born in 1734). Cabinetmaker. Paris. Master on July 31, 1762. Brother of Nicolas-Alexandre Lapie. Elegant oval-shaped living room table in mahogany veneer with amaranth and light wood frames around the belt. White Carrara marble top encircled in an ingot mold with openwork decoration on the back. Opening a drawer hidden on the side. Four delicately curved legs ending in roller shoes and joined in a spacer by a mahogany veneer top encircled by an openwork balustrade. Note the outer edges of the feet made of tinted horn over the entire height of the falls, a rare and innovative solution for the time to protect the feet against shocks. Parisian work from the Transition period Stamped J*LAPIE and JME Very good condition, fully restored by our workshop, traditional french polish finish
