Turned Wooden Mini-Pedestal Table #4 in Catalpa

About the Item

This small "mini" version of pedestal #4 in Catalpa is one of the ten original shapes in the Lehrecke Pedestal collection from 1996. The piece was turned on a custom built lathe, set to dry for three months and then finished with an ultra-matte water finish that looks very natural, while still giving it incredible protection. Catalpa wood is fast growing and locally sourced from the Hudson Valley. Catalpa is very stable and light in weight with a very beautiful open grain. The inspiration for this piece, as well as the entire pedestal collection, is from African furniture, tools, and currency which Lehrecke has been collecting for years. The combination of the elemental forms and the precise machining is what gives these pieces their enduring and unique quality. The variety of shapes, sizes, and the options of different local woods sourced by Lehrecke are numerous. We recommend not putting these pedestals on carpets as they can hold moisture for some time - especially in humid climates.
