Unis table by Isac Elam Kaid Edition 2 of 5 Signed and numbered Dimensions: Cast stone, gypsum, wax finish Materials: 52 cm H x 41 D x 38 W 29 kg "The table was made in one continuous process of motion and material exploration; namely clay. A bed of clay is poured on the ground, from which a large basin is hollowed and formed by hand, working in a continuous stretch before the material hardens. From this basin a cast is made with Gypsum and Powdered Stone. The indentations and marks are permanent documents of my hands' work and a time stamp of a single moment in process and experiment." The tables base is hand-packed in to a mold, surrounding a concrete counter-weight. Isac Elam Kaid is an artist and designer based in Vancouver. Isac Elam Kaid is an artist and designer of unique sculptural objects. Born in 1991, he studied Architectural Design, and established a studio practice to conceive private and commercial spaces. He soon began designing the objects within the spaces themselves, and began taking private commissions in early 2019. His work is characterized by its unconventional beauty and bold form. Often inspired by raw material and antiquated means of craft, he works to create objects of imperfect beauty, which demand attention and express their material in the most direct way possible. His designs are created by hand in his studio. Due to the nature of the materials he works with, each object is one of a kind. He is based in Vancouver, Canada and Tel Aviv, Israel.
