Vintage Faux Ivory Opium Table, China 1960s
About the Item
Heavy and intricately molded or carved side, occasional or a so-called Opium table in faux ivory. Faux ivory is heavier than regular ivory and it consists partly of composite polyresin and white stone powder. Everything is molded, carved and polished in relief and it has an almost occult or ritualistic appearance to it. Some believe these kind of tables are antique but our research shows that they were brought home via the trading routes to Europe in the 1950s and 1960s. The table features its original glass table top. The table has markings or signature to the rim that support the table top. This table will ship disassembled.
