White Fiberglass Planter or Bar Cart on Wheels in the Style of Joe Colombo

About the Item

A 1970s Italian planter or bar cart composed of fiberglass in an off-white hue. This sculptural piece features hollow cylinders of varying heights arranged in artful tiers. The base is supported by wheels, allowing for easy mobility. It makes a fabulous floor sculpture, perfect for displaying dried flowers or bottles. In the style of Joe Colombo. Unmarked. Italy, 1970s. Born in Milan in 1930, designer Cesare "Joe" Colombo spent much of his twenties focused on painting and sculpture. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Brera, Milan, during the early 1950s and joined the Movimento Nucleare, an avant-garde art movement led by Enrico Baj and Sergio Dangelo, in 1951. In 1962, Colombo established a design studio in Milan, where he primarily worked on architectural projects, including ski lodges and mountain hotels, as well as product design. His furniture designs were known for their bold, round shapes and innovative use of modern technologies to create new design solutions. Condition: Good overall vintage condition. Minor chipping around the edges, light scuffs throughput, and one area of possible previous repair, as shown in photos. All wheels function smoothly.
