About the Maker

William Earle continues to hand-craft every design, working alone in his Northern California studio. Each piece is made to order, and custom dimensions and materials are always welcome. The curator of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum compared William to European designers as the " American Minimalist ". The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art commissioned his Nude table to sell from the museum store. William's furniture can be found on the campuses of Yale, Penn and Harvard, in the lobby of Trump Towers and in the rooms of the Ritz-Carlton, as display on the floors of Bergdorf Goodman's and Macy's. He has been published in every design magazine, from Metropolitan Home and Elle Decor, to Metropolis, Wallpaper and Surface. If he has a design philosophy, it is more a hope that his work would not look out of place in a Japanese Tea House, what he considers the ultimate modern expression.
