About the Item
This is an old Japanese low table in a primitive style, made simply by placing an aged wooden board atop a natural tree stump.
Despite its minimal structure, it exudes an overwhelming presence—a perfect example of beauty in utility that arises only when nature and time work together.
Both the top and the base date back to the Meiji period (1860s–1900s), and the vitality of the wood remains alive even after more than a century.
The materials appear to be tochi (Japanese horse chestnut), a wood known for its subtle luster and organic patterns.
The tabletop is carved from a single plank, bearing countless marks left by a hand axe.
These bold tool traces catch the light and create soft shadows, giving the surface a quiet yet powerful expression.
The stump base, on the other hand, retains its natural contours—an organic form that brings warmth and softness to the overall composition.
Together, they embody the Japanese spirit of wabi-sabi: the harmony between the human hand and the natural world, and the quiet acceptance of time’s passage.
It is a piece that transforms any space, radiating stillness and depth as though it carries the very breath of the earth.
Perfect as a coffee table, side table, or display stand, this work unites the life force of wood with the timeless beauty of imperfection—an utterly unique creation that transcends function and becomes sculpture.

Our Philosophy
Objects always tell the truth.
All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give
them deep affection as much as I can.
There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty.
But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it
will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing
today and to question us about an essence of beauty again.
I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have,
feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
