About the Item

This is an old Japanese low table with an exceptionally simple structure—just a single solid board placed atop a wooden base—where the natural strength of the material itself becomes an expression of sculptural beauty. It was created using reclaimed wood from the Meiji to Taisho periods (1860s–1920s), and the aged surface of the timber exudes a deep, timeworn character. The tabletop is made from a single slab of keyaki (zelkova), showcasing its distinctive, heavy grain and graceful patterns. The base is crafted from kusunoki (camphor wood), shaped directly from a natural tree root, preserving its organic form and power. The surface bears natural cracks and knots that have developed over time, giving it a primitive yet warm presence. This low table works beautifully as a sofa table or display table, adding a quiet weight and timeless elegance to any space. Its combination of aged materials and unembellished structure perfectly embodies the Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetic—a beauty born from simplicity, imperfection, and time. Weight: Top 21.5 kg / Base 16 kg ____________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
