About the Item
This is an old Japanese storage chest that also functions as a low table.
It was crafted during the Meiji to Taisho periods (1860s–1920s) and made from traditional Japanese cedar (sugi). The wood, known for its lightness and soft texture, has developed a deep, rich patina over time—its aged surface now standing as part of the design itself, transformed by years of use into quiet beauty.
The form is strikingly simple and devoid of excess, composed entirely of clean, straight lines. By eliminating all ornamentation, the piece achieves the essence of simplicity—a design that captivates purely through the presence of its material and the balance of its proportions.
Traces of repeated repairs over the years can be found, and these marks of time are what make this piece truly special. Notably, part of the tabletop has been reinforced with a sheet of galvanized metal, a repair that reflects both the aesthetic sense and practical ingenuity of its past owners or craftsmen. The contrast between the coolness of metal and the warmth of wood creates a unique, art-like harmony.
The interior provides solid storage space, making the piece functional as both a sofa table and a display table. Its calm presence and timeworn texture blend naturally even into modern interiors, offering a quiet statement of authenticity.
The piece has been cleaned and disinfected, so it is ready for immediate use. Within the aged materials and the traces of repair resides the spirit of wabi-sabi—the Japanese appreciation of imperfection, impermanence, and the beauty born of time.

Our Philosophy
Objects always tell the truth.
All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give
them deep affection as much as I can.
There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty.
But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it
will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing
today and to question us about an essence of beauty again.
I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have,
feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
