Japanese antique wooden black low table / 1850-1912 / Edo-Meiji
About the Item
I have just received a very attractive Japanese low table.
This is a wooden writing desk made between the end of the Edo period and the Meiji period. A writing desk is a small table used in old Japan for writing work and calligraphy, characterized by its simple functional design and beauty. In fact, they are sometimes used for writing ledgers in stores and other places. And this black table has deepened with time, giving it a truly antique character.
The black color on the surface is the result of years of use, and the soot and oily smoke from the hearth has seeped into the surface, giving it this black color. This blackness is a beauty that is created by the “accumulation of time,” which is not found in modern furniture, and gives a sense of depth that is unique to antique furniture. This table, which tells how things have changed and deepened over time, has a serenity and profundity that cannot be found in modern pieces.
In addition, this writing desk has slight warping of the wood, but overall it remains in very good condition, showing the calmness and warmth that has been acquired through years of use. Its design, which can be fully used as a decorative stand, is simple but radiates a quiet strength that brings harmony to the space.
With its convenient dimensions of 90.5 cm (width), 36 cm (depth), and 27 cm (height), it blends naturally into any space; a single piece of furniture will give a sense of Japanese history and culture carved over time, and will add a dignified beauty to any space.

[We are a company consisting of four different stores with four different brands.
We offer a wide range of attractive items from all over the world with a focus on Japanese items.
We offer Japanese antique furniture and tools that are different from the Japanese antique furniture and art that have been appreciated abroad.
These tools were used in private homes and farmhouses in the past.
They have been passed through a long time and have an attractive taste.
The reality is that many of these items are now being discarded along with the demolition of houses.
We are on a mission to re-evaluate these fascinating old objects and preserve them for future generations.
And we have seen tens of thousands of items so far.
We have used that experience to list the most fascinating items here.
We can do this because of our long experience.
We will rediscover the "beauty" produced in the life and culture of the common people, which is different from the Japanese art and culture that is known and scattered around the world, and present it to the world. ]
