In old Japan, people used to sit on the floor to eat and study. This is a desk mainly for studying and office work. In the Edo period, there was a facility to teach study. The name of the facility is called "Terakoya". Here the children were learning to read and write. Such a desk was also used there. It is also used in stores. Also, in Japan, cedar and zelkova are generally used. And this is a cedar desk. The legs are made of cedar and the top is made of chestnut. It has a very simple structure and gives a primitive impression. Since it has been used for a long time, the corners of the top plate are slightly rounded and glossy. In addition, there is a part where the knot hole of the tree is removed and dented. It is a very cool low table. This is black and beautiful. Why is it black? Because it has soot. There is a hearth culture in Japan. When the soot reaches the desk, it turns black like this. After a long time. I think it was used in northern Japan, especially in cold regions. There are only a few desks in the Edo period. And there are fewer such beautiful black desks. Also, even if you touch it, soot will not adhere to your hands. Please be assured. It's very rare.
