19th century French Carved Oval Dining Center Table Black Forest Lion LARGE Oak. Direct from France, a very large and substantial 19th century hand carved oval table! The massive base is a work of art and features elaborate hand carvings of lion heads atop each of the four legs. QUITE RARE, we’ve only found a few of these in the past 15 years!! Below the carved lion heads with flowing manes, the oversized legs and feet also feature Black Forest fruits, nuts and foliage, all positioned atop large carved scrolls. Note this table’s large size oval top, (4.5 ft. x almost 6 ft.), easily suitable for a dining table, or stunning center table in a foyer or grand salon. From a French castle to your castle, with superior carvings, craftsmanship and artistry. Special provenance!! There are two original hand-written French labels, one underneath the top and one on the base!! Very heavy and solid; underneath is the original extension slides and drop down legs to support the table with leaves (not included). circa1890. Measurements: 29” ht. x 70.75” x 53.5”. Leg clearance, approx. 24.5”. Base only, 25.25” ht. x 41” x 41” footprint. NOTE: All of our antiques are direct from Europe.
