19th Century Italian Charles X Carved Walnut Vanity Table or Dressing Table

About the Item

Beautiful solid walnut wood vanity table, 1925s. Characterized by refined simple line with elegant straight legs. Practical drawer. Characterized by a refined wood carving work. Of great value are the two parrot heads that support the mirror. The legs are also finely carved. The mirror is original, antique mercury and therefore has image defects as seen in the photos. Equipped with two small drawers under the mirror is a long drawer under the top. Perfect to be used in the bedroom for make-up. This piece of furniture is ready to be placed in your beautiful home. For safety in transport the mirror will be disassembled, the assembly is not included in the delivery.

We are delighted to offer this exquisite fully restored Alfred Beurdeley attributed 19th century French Louis XV Kingwood Coiffeuse dressing table This is the best example of a Coiffeuse table I have ever seen. The marquetry inlay can only really be the work Alfred Beurdeley, it is sublime, musical and floral, all things he was well known for. Additionally the timber is King and tulip wood, walnut and mahogany, all materials he used when creating his marquetry masterpieces This table has been fully restored as mentioned, there were over 50 pieces of veneer missing, they have all been timber matched, replaced, stained and then the whole thing French polished from the ground up Dimensions Height:- 70cm Width:- 82.5cm Depth:- 46.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Alfred Beurdeley, 1847-1919 Nationality: French Date of Birth: 1847 Place of Birth: Paris Place of Death: Paris Identity: Emmanuel-Alfred Beurdeley was a collector who came from a family of cabinetmakers, antique dealers and collectors. He was the illegitimate son of Louis-Auguste-Alfred Beurdeley (1808–82). His grandfather, Jean Beurdeley (1772–1853), who served in Napoleon's army, opened a small antique shop in the Marais district of Paris. In 1830 he bought the Pavillon de Hanovre, 28 Boulevard des Italiens, which became the Beurdeley firm's principal gallery until 1894. L.-A.-A. Beurdeley dealt in antiques and works of art and was also a cabinetmaker specializing in reproductions of seventeenth and eighteenth century furniture. His clients included Napoleon III and the Empress Eugénie. Life: In 1875 E.-A. Beurdeley took over his family's gallery and workshops and until 1894 concentrated on continuing the line of luxury furniture sold by his father. He was one of the most important Parisian cabinetmakers, and won a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878. He was appointed Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 1893 following the Universal Exhibition in Amsterdam. In 1895 he closed the Pavillon de Hanovre and retired to his hôtel in the Rue de Clichy. The rest of his life was spent acquiring and selling enormous collections of furniture, Chinese porcelain, paintings and drawings, including an extraordinary group of eighteenth century French drawings by François Boucher, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Nicolas Lancret and Antoine Watteau in 1905. 19th Century English Softwood & Mahogany Veneer Vanity Table, Signed Maple & Co. We present you this vanity table circa the late 19th century in mahogany veneer. The whole is signed by the British furniture manufactory of Maple & Co. that was founded in the early 19th century. The vanity is of a simple form, placed on high, angular legs, and composed of a base with three drawers, an upper section with a movable mirror, and two adjacent to the rear wall compartments with small drawers. Moreover, the mirror is oval, in a wooden frame, and mounted to the wall with brass hooks. The legs of the vanity are on the porcelain rolls. The fronts of the drawers, pulpit, and the mirror frame are inlaid with fillet stripes. Presented vanity has been restored and finished in French polish.
