Coming to Life Table

About the Item

This unique piece is part of the ‘Coming To Life’ collection designed by much-acclaimed designer in the Near and Middle East Nada Debs, renowned for cleverly distilling culture and craftsmanship in works imbued with emotional resonance. The materials Nada chooses all tell a tactile story. For her, the human hand is a voice, and the artisan a storyteller. In this table, the organic wood top retains its natural state, contrasting with the sloping, spiral legs in mother-of-pearl inlay. A perfect balance is achieved in these combinations of noble materials, natural textures and handcrafted patterns. Nada Debs grew up in Japan in a Lebanese family. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States. Nada has spent significant periods of time living and traveling around the world, exploring the connections between different cultures. She now lives in Dubai and Beirut where she established her studio twenty years ago, keen to safeguard the artisanal legacy of the region and committed to revisiting fine crafts through her signature design. Her multicultural approach has made her one of the most renowned designers in the Near and Middle East.

  • Gandhara Carapace Table
    By Nada Debs
    Located in Paris, FR
GANDHARA The ‘Gandhara Carapace’ table merges contemporary design and 'pietra dura', a refined centuries-old art. Born from the collaboration between Nada Debs, a much acclaimed designer in the Near and Middle East, and Meher Asad, artistic director of the Lél collective specialised in stone inlay, this exquisite table features minimal lines entirely covered with an inlay of fine stones (amazonite, onyx) and marble. The polygonal ‘Carapace’ pattern that repeats and unfolds over the entire surface of the table evokes both geometric rigor and the exoskeleton of an animal evoking protection. Custom size tables are available upon request. Nada Debs grew up in Japan in a Lebanese family. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States. • Circular Table Attributed to Cesare Lacca
    By Cesare Lacca
    Located in Henley-on Thames, Oxfordshire
Circular Brass, glass and steel tripod low table attributed to Cesare Lacca. Italy 1950s Cesare Lacca. Born in Naples in 1929, Italian architect and designer Cesare Lacca created countless furniture and metal objects during the 1950s. Although information about his private and professional life is scarce, there are reliable enough sources to document his elegant brass designs – work for which the designer is best known. Like many Italian designers of the 20th century, Lacca moved to Milan after World War II to launch his career. Before the age of 21, Lacca was selected by a group of American curators to be part of the world-famous Italy at Work exhibition, which toured 12 American museums between 1950 and 1953 – the first major Italian design exhibition outside of Italy. The exhibition collects and exhibits the work of the most talented and prominent Italian designers who embrace and develop modernist principles, revolutionizing the Italian artisan tradition, including Carlo Mollino, Franco Albini, and Gio Ponti Lacca designs over the course of his career a large number of tea and service carts (which correspond to most of his pieces available on today’s market), coffee tables, and magazine racks. The designer’s most iconic trolley, produced by the Italian Cassina, is characterized by several carved wood, and brass details, with glass shelf and removable, usable as a tray. In addition to his carts, Lacca is also known for creating high-backed armchairs, which are regularly included in Arredoluce’s advertisements for Angelo Lelli’s lighting...
